“Yeah… it’s probrobly why I took in peter a bit…. no mate and this genetic urge to… pouch something you know……”

Carlos hummed softly and nodded. He leaned his head down
onto Yondu’s shoulder and just lay there, giving what comfort he thought he
could.

Pulls him close and kisses his head nuzzling at him then yelps as he hears a scream and then Kraglin belly flops into the spring with a splash from above. Peter was laughing his ass off from ontop of a high cliff.

Carlos jumped in shock and looked up at Peter, watching the
boy just lose it.

Kraglin started to emerge from the spring, a bluish blush
all across his front from the impact of the water. He looked like a wet cat the
way he stood up, and he actually growled as he snapped his head up to glare at
Peter.

“Pete – I’m gettin’
you for that, you Terran brat!!”

Sighs
and puts his arm around him and settles back. “Feels Good Don’t it……
best stuff in the world right here….. naked ya feel like goo…. makes
everything stop hurting….. halfnuts feeling a lot better to…” Motions to
the spring a bit below them and halfnut who was awake and relaxed
floating in the waters with Tullk.

Carlos peaked down and smiled. “Oh, that’s so nice to see,”
he said. “I had been worried… but if he’s feeling better, then that’s great.”
Carlos settled on the rock seat beside Yondu and sighed. This was very nice. He
could easily fall asleep there, he thought.

Puts a arm around him pulling him close and kisses him running his fingers along his side. The closer Carlos was could see the pouch against yondus belly of which he would press on randomly to get any water out.

Carlos couldn’t help but glance at Yondu’s hand as he pushed
on his own belly. “What… I’m sorry, but why do you keep doing that?” he asked.
Was he playing with the water? Some of it seemed to spurt up when he did that.

“Hmmm? Oh. Waters getting in my pouch. I push it out ever now and then.”

“Water’s getting in your pouch?” Carlos repeated dumbly. “I –
I’m sorry, I just mean… I didn’t know you had a pouch.”

“Yeah… it’s .. uhhh my species can have pups… the pouch is for pups. Until they are big enough to come out. Usually stay as pouchlings until they are about… 3 or 4 cycles.”

“Pups?” Carlos asked. “On Earth we call marsupial babies ‘Joeys’.
But that’s interesting – I didn’t know Centaurians held babies in a pouch.”

“Yes. And we call them pups. We can have up to three but more common 1-2…. the males usually end up … birthing…. believe it or not…”

Carlos shrugged. “We have seahorses that do that on Earth,
so I’m not as surprised as I could be. Though, of course, they’re not mammals…”
Carlos coughed slightly. “I’m sorry, but I just find it so fascinating. How
does it happen? Do females put the eggs into the male and gestation happens
there, or what?”

Nods. “In a way yes. The females only job is to inseminate the eggs. The male carries them then … lays them… they getvplaced in the pouch for warmth then hatch and spend time as pouchlings until old enough to come out. Basically we men do all the hard work. Women can’t get pregnant…. but other males can impregnate each other. Female centaurians are picky. And rare…”

Carlos hummed, frowning somberly. “I think now Centaurians are rare,” he said softly.
He couldn’t imagine how Yondu felt – being practically alone. Carlos was one of
two humans on the ship, but his race wasn’t enslaved or dead.

Yondu nods. “Yeah…. we are…. and to spread out for any kind of breeding…….. I’ve … never had a pouchling…….. “

Carlos looked at him sadly. “I’m sorry,” he said softly. “I
have no idea what that’s like… but I’m sorry.”

“Quick, take my hand, it’s urgent!” (whispers-of-change)

She
sat up a little and set her tea on the table. “Oh, well, uh… Work. I,
uh… I have a little online shop where I sell custom tea blends and some
other… stuff like that,” she said with a sheepish smile. “Doesn’t make a
ton of money, but it pays the bills.”

“Oh, really?” Carlos asked, interested. “That sounds pretty
fun! I honestly don’t know much about tea because I don’t drink it. But that
sounds interesting. Do you come up with the blends on your own?”

“For the most part, yeah. I mean, I do get inspiration from certain stuff. Like, I have an apple pie blend that I like, it sells pretty well. There’s some other dessert ones. I do have some others that are basically me trying to imitate other tea flavors I’ve tried, or improve upon them. Other stuff is uh, a little weird, like… colors. Not like, ‘Oh, this one is called Yellow, so all the ingredients in it are yellow,’ it’s more like, ‘This one is called Yellow, because this is how the color yellow makes me feel.’ Ya know?” She shrugged, looking down at the table, a little bit embarrassed. “That sounds silly…”

Carlos just smiled at her and shook his head. “Not really,”
he said. “I wasn’t a psychology major, but I find it very fascinating. This
reminds me of Fantasia – the original one – and the first piece they did had a
bunch of colors and images that people might see when listening to music. So… I
don’t think it’s a strange concept at all.”

*laughs* hell fucking no, dude

*he chuckles and kicks his feet excidedly* being a scientist seems fun..!

Oh, it definitely is! And it’s a great feeling to make a discovery, no matter how small.

maybe i could help find out what’s up with black holes!

Maybe you will! Heh… It’s really good to see kids interested
in science, these days…

there are a couple other kids here that like science more then me.. *he looks up at the sky* .. do you ever wonder how it would look or feel if you could see the stars during the day?

*shrugs* Sometimes. Sometimes though, if you look really
carefully, you can see lights in the sky that look like stars – those would be
our nearby planetoid neighbors or even the International Space Station and
other satellites.

internat- internatel– we have a space station? how many satellites are there?

Yeah, there’s a space station. And there’s plenty of
satellites – phone companies and TV companies and weather stations have their
stuff up there.

… what if you were on a space ship and you came back down to earth, but everyone was gone? not like everyone just packed up and left, but just gone ?

I think there might be a Twilight Zone episode about that.
But honestly… that would be pretty terrifying. However, it’s very unlikely that
that would ever happen. *he looks at the kid* What makes you ask about that?

i dunno… my friend thinks i think about abandonment too much though…. what’s the twilight zone? *he looked up at the other*

Oh, it’s an old show where really weird stuff happens. The
first episode in fact is of a man appearing in a town where there was
absolutely nobody there. Only in that episode it wasn’t real – it was a science
experiment being run to see how the human mind would deal during times of
complete solitude because they wanted to send man to Mars at some point in the
future.

… damn, sounds weird.. and the whole show is basically like that?

Sort of. It takes place in a place where reality isn’t quite
reality… so things get weird. But some elements are just so close to real life
that it just makes you think. Though it might be a little bit deep for you… You
can certainly try it when you get the chance.

“Apps.” He shivered in disgust that this town had evolved to the latest technology. It was horrid that he would have to resort to using a …a smartphone. The feeling dissipated as Carlos went on about Nightcrawler. “Oh, they’re the same person Kurt Wagner is Nightcrawler….you know like a superhero with a secret identity. I’m a superhero you know. Just probably one of the few with no secret identity.” He sighed at that with slight regret that he did not come up with an alias at some point during his career. Something cool like….The Wiz….yeah…that sound hip right? Stephen followed the scientist into the room and looked around. “Yes, this should be big enough. 3 feet in diameter is the perfect size for a circle.”

Carlos went to the small alter he had in his apartment and
gathered up the bloodstones that were arranged in a sort of semi-circle. He
carried them back for the Doctor. “Where do you want to do this? In the middle of
the floor? If so, do it on the tile – I’d rather not try to get burn marks out
of the carpet.” He looked at the little Bamf and smiled kindly at it.
